the plant place

Welcome to Pothos! Nestled in the heart of historic Fox Point in Providence, we propagated our little plant shop in June 2024. In Rhode Island terms, we’re on the corner of Power and Ives. Yeah, where the electric bike shop used to be. Oh right, and the “mattress store” before that.

We are 100% RI family owned & operated with strong roots in our community and a commitment to provide our neighbors with healthy plants and services. Here at Pothos, we believe that plant husbandry is a hobby like any other; it takes practice and skill to get it right! That’s why we not only sell plants, we fix them too.

Soil Change
Repotting Service

Has your monster Monstera outgrown its pot? Leave the mess to us with this all-inclusive repotting service! These green thumbs have over a decade of experience in the greenhouse/nursery industry. We promise your plant is in good hands — we treat each plant on our potting bench as if it were our own.

The pricing structure is based on pot size a includes all necessary materials for predictable and honest pricing. You can BYOP (Bring Your Own Pot), opt for a free (reused) plastic nursery pot, or purchase a pot here at the shop for a discounted service rate!

Plants purchased at Pothos Plant Shop are under our “Lifetime Soil Change Guarantee!” We don’t charge to repot our own plants, so grab that empty pot kicking around and you’ll leave our shop with a beautiful finished houseplant ready for display. We are proud to offer this guarantee for the plant’s entire lifetime; when it’s time for a bigger pot, bring them back to Pothos!

Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

Plant pests & diseases are an inevitable but treatable stumbling block in this hobby. The longer you keep plants and the more often you’re adding to your collection, the more likely you are to have one kind of another! Pests are a nuisance, but can often be eradicated with the right treatment & a practiced hand. Infested plants are quarantined upon intake and given multiple methods of non-toxic control methods for your plant’s best chance of recovery. We’ve successfully treated clients’ plants for aphids, fungus gnats, mealybug, scale, thrips, and powdery mildew infections. Save your plants and prevent further spread to your indoor jungle!

Bringing home a new plant? We always recommend doing a pest check and preventative wash for every addition, no matter where you shop for plants. Insects are in our natural environment, in the nursery greenhouses, and likely among the plants you already own (you just don’t see them). Proper plant husbandry and care will always be your first line of defense, but a pest check and preventative wash for every new addition keep any bugs at bay.

Plant R&R
Repair & Recovery

Indoor plants are a hobby like any other — it take time and practice to get it right! Whether we’d like to admit it or not, we all have a few plant skeletons in our compost bin. Here at Pothos Plant Shop, we never judge because chances are we’ve done it too. Don’t throw out an unhappy plants before its untimely demise — bring them in in for some R&R (Repair & Recovery). You’d be surprised by the condition of plants we’ve been able to revive with a little time and a lot of love!

While plants are living creatures and survival can never be guaranteed, we have the experience to recognize what may have gone wrong and encourage regrowth. We have successfully recovered plants from frost bite, sunburn, pet damage, root rot, lack of proper lighting, and severe dehydration!

If we can’t save it, there’s no charge. It’s worth a second opinion and your plant may get a second chance!
